First time storage renter, and I’m so glad I found this place. Use of their very inexpensive cargo vans make this place a steal, on top of their already great prices. I have complete confidence in the safety of my things, their units, reception area, customer service and security were all top-notch. Also loved their homey and quirky reception area, with chilled-out music to calm stressed out movers. Keely at the front desk was so kind and really made sure I found the best unit for my needs. She was very patient and friendly and was always checking to make sure I had everything I needed during the move. The manager was also very friendly and accommodating and explained the contract to me clearly. I honestly never do ratings, but all the good things you read about Lockaway are true. Lockaway Self Storage is unbelievably one of the hidden places that you would experience what the oldest New York City atmosphere would be like. Not like other fancy storages in NYC you might see. Once you move things in there and walk through the facility, you would feel you are in NYC in the 1970s - 1980s, seriously. The lobby is filled with the beautiful and rare antiques and also twelve 42" LED monitors for surveillance & security needs. The staff, who has been working there for more than 30 years, is helpful, patient, polite, and friendly. During summer seasons, the staff gives free small bottles of cold water, nice relief! Oh yes, the Koi-fish pond and the flower garden to the entrance would greet your visit and serve your solace and relaxation if necessary. The neighborhood, Walkabout (not many New Yorkers know that name!) is safer and quiet. Love that 70s-80s soul, honestly. ~ Earth N

Miguel is super friendly and helpful. I’ve been here multiple times to buy boxes/other moving supplies and just rented a storage unit, and all my experiences here have been positive thus far. Miguel took care to explain every step of the process for me, and offered to show me around multiple types of units. I never thought a self-storage company could be so nice and have so much personality… Check out their front office and you’ll see (was offered fresh baked cookies and water, and the office is wood paneled and filled with interesting decor). ~ Sofia K

Easy access to BQE, the building is well secure and very clean. Keely and Burnest are the 2 most special people in this establishment, they are very professional, kind and generous. They are the the main reason I decided to stay with Lockaway Storage Unit for several years now. The office has WiFi and a section where you can do office work. They have complimentary coffee, hot chocolate and the office ambiance is rustic (very cool antiques). They should serve red wine after 6pm since the office is such a quaint and lovely place. ~ Marcial M

I’ve been here for a while now and unexpectedly this place is a nice little oasis, considering it’s a storage facility. Everyone that works here is always kind. They usually have cookies in the office and waters when it’s hot out. There are working gates at night and cameras so even after hours never feels sketchy. I had the pleasure of working with Naftuli and his father in a great created protect. They were very enthusiastic and really had a great vision that helped me developed graphics that were unique and very appealing. This place really hits the spot in terms of price and service. Tommy very patiently helped us find the perfect unit for our needs, and even stayed late to make sure we found it. He's a gem, and the 24 hour access if you need it, and later hours if you don't, are a real draw for us. Our storage unit is in a container outside, and despite very heavy rainfall, it remained completely dry inside. ~ Ken S

Needed a storage unit on short notice, managed to get one here. You get a door code that lets you in during business hours. The place has cameras everywhere so nobody's going to steal your stuff. Bring your own padlock. They have an awesome koi pond, plus they bake cookies in the office on a regular basis, free coffee and tea too. ~ Alexandra M

Had an overall great experience here. Tuli & Burnest are both awesome and helped make the transition in and out extremely smooth. Lots of parking space and the load in docks are big enough for huge box trucks. Lots of hand carts available too - awesome place. ~ Anthony G

Miguel is a very nice employee, was very helpful. They sell cardboard boxes of assorted sizes for moving here. The office is a very interesting space with lots of vintage items and tchotchkes all around. ~ Wall F
